The WOMA BOD created the RGF to Manage Infrastructure

Welcome to the Roads, Grounds and Facilities (RGF) Committee

Look around our Mountain. We have over 6 miles of roadways, 3 earth dams, over 400 acres of Green Space. And we have two Common Areas for social gathering; The Pavilion and 'The Park'. This WOMA owned Infrastructure requires well reasoned Management. The RGF is the most active Committee in the Association.

We need to KILL all the Polk County Most Unwanted Plants

Herbicide Manufacturer Safety Data Sheets (MSDS) & Opt-Out

These three products are recommended by the USDA, NC State University, Polk County Kudzu Eradication Program.

Minimal impact on our Mountain Environment and Maximum Impact on the Invasive Plants.

Also is provided a Statistical Report of RGF Achievements (PDF Below) from January to May 2019. Something to be proud of.

Using Best Practices for Keeping Invasive Species at Bay

Invasive species

Our Association, via the RGF, is proactive in following Best Practices from the USDA and NC State University for a well reasoned and tailored Herbicide Treatment Program. The program was developed during 2019 and refined, with new equipment, in 2020.

Naturally there are hiccups along the way as programs grow. The WOMA BOD and the RGF Committee deeply appreciate property owner comments and input. (photo: Paulownia or Princess Tree)

Tailored Approach to Herbicide Spraying

The RGF Committee uses any one of three different Herbicide products based on the Target of the Spraying for the day. If the RGF is spraying road surfaces and roadway right of way then they will most likely use Ranger Pro. They may also use the Crossbow product on r/w areas which require selective killing of Kudzu, Princess Tree and Tree of Heaven but spares other non-invasive plants. For 2020 the RGF has been using Clopyralid 3 against Kudzu and the Princess Tree with great success. Association Members are invited to scroll down to the Manufacturers Safety Data Sheet (MSDS) provided for each product. (photo: WOMA Herbicide Spray Trailer)

Invasive species - kudzu

Kudzu is Not for Everybody - neither is herbicide

You may Opt-Out of the Invasive Species Treatment Program by the Association. In doing so you choose to manage the Invasive Species on your own. Easy to Opt-Out. Download and submit the Opt-Out Form as instructed. Meet with a member of the RGF Committee to walk the frontage along the WOMA or State owned roadway to insure all landmarks are noted and frontage is agreed to. (photo: Kudzu in Bloom)

The RFG and You- Our Volunteer

Helping a Little Helps a LOT

Helping a Little Helps a LOT

Helping a Little Helps a LOT

Our RGF is made up of three committee members. They volunteer their time and assets to maintain the WOMA Infrastructure. An Extra Hand is always welcomed.

The RGF has periodic "Together on Tuesdays" during the winter/early spring period. Most often to Cut and Trim on WOMA roadway Right of Ways.

The Committee needs "eyes" looking for problems. We also need folk who like to be involved in their Neighborhood.
